Many children are not exposed and cannot retain new vocabulary words up to age expectations. Relying on visual input as they do more and more, the auditory channel is not used to pick up new vocabulary incidentally. Children and parents talk less and so children do not learn new vocabulary words. These activities stimulate vocabulary development.
